Morgan Charriere Dreaming of Headlining the First Cage Warriors Paris Event

Former Cage Warriors featherweight titleholder Morgan Charriere looks to welcome the British organization on French soil.

If everything goes according to plan, Charriere (16-9-1, 4-3 CW) will step into the cage as he takes on Pedro Souza at Cage Warriors 153 on April 29. “The Last Pirate” has a long list of opponents who pulled out at the last moment, so he hopes to showcase his skills this time around. Initially, Charriere should have faced Pedro Colman at the upcoming event in Dublin before his opponent withdrew a few days ago. In March, Charriere was supposed to clash with James Hendin at CW, but the matchup didn’t materialize. Charriere’s latest assignment dates back to November, when he edged Daniel Bazant via split decision. While talking with Sherdog, Charriere confessed he wants to headline the Cage Warriors event in Paris, as the British promotion is targeting its first event in the City of Lights later this year.

"I think if they come in Paris, I need to be on that card. What's the point to come to Paris if Morgan is not the main event of the evening fighting great guy just to showcase my skills in front of my country, of my people, and of my fans? I have so many people who want to see me fight in France because they cannot come to another country. They don't have the money or the way to come. If I fight in France, it's so easier for me and for all the people in France that wait for me to fight. The last time I fought in France was six, seven years ago. I was a child. It was not MMA, it was pancrace. MMA was not illegal in France. Nobody knows it, but I was one of the first guys to put things online about MMA. We grow [at] the same [time]. I think that there were a lot of people that don't [regularly] watch MMA, but they will see that I'm fighting at the top.”
