Anthony Romero Says Viral Knockout Helped Him Secure a Place in the PFL Challenger Series

Fans can rest assured that Anthony Romero’s upcoming fight at Week 4 of the PFL Challenger Series won’t lack for style.

Romero (11-1) has the opportunity of a lifetime in front of him when he locks horns with Antonio Caruso in a 155-pound clash on Feb. 17. The Dana White’s Contender Series alum received the call from the Professional Fighters League after scoring a highlight-reel knockout against Kenn Glenn at Fury Fighting Championship 60 in April. With his eyes on the prize, “The Genius” is hoping to win a contract, and perhaps, bring the promotion to Canada, where Romero has not had the chance to perform in front of a live audience. While talking with Sherdog, Romero stated he will pursue a finish to make his fans, and the audience in general, happy. Romero understands very well the importance of the stage he’s fighting on; that’s why he waited for almost a year on the sidelines before this bout.

“That's what people have been wanting to see from me. They want to see finishes, whether it's a knockout or submission. That's part of the reason why it took so long for me to come back to the cage because I wanted that opportunity that felt worth it to fight for a big promotion, not just another regional fight against some other person that no one really knows. I wanted to fight for a big opportunity, and where this fight leads, it gets me excited, and it's something that I've always wanted to do.”
