Sherdog’s Top 10: World Series of Fighting Finds

Number 10

Jessica “Jag” Aguilar captured the WSOF women’s strawweight crown. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com

10. Jessica Aguilar

Aguilar made a name for herself in Bellator MMA, advancing to the semifinals of the 2010 Bellator women’s 115-pound tournament. However, when Bellator founder Bjorn Rebney and his company decided to part ways with the two final women on the roster -- Aguilar and Jessica Eye -- “Jag” looked to compete elsewhere.

Aguilar became the first female to sign with the WSOF in November 2013, making her promotional debut two months later against Alida Gray and, in one fell swoop, laying claim to the inaugural strawweight title.

With only four losses in 22 career fights, Aguilar is regarded as one of the premier fighters at 115 pounds. She accounts for two of the three losses on Japanese legend Megumi Fujii’s record, and with the UFC recently implementing its own women’s strawweight division, a jump to the most successful MMA promotion in the world figures to be in the cards at some point.
