As he lives under a nationwide stay-at-home mandate in England, Bellator MMA bantamweight Callum Ellenor has to also ponder the third postponement of a planned fight with Irish star James Gallagher, with this most recent booking set to be a main event slot at the promotion’s eighth European Series event in May. Despite the matchmaking seeming cursed, “Cal Pacino” eventually expects to face off with the Irishman in the cage at some point.
“If it had been the first time that this was supposed to happen, I would have been devastated and beside myself. Now I just think, you know what, I’m not even bothered,” Ellenor told Sherdog. “It is what it is. If I get a fight in, awesome. If not; we’re going to fight one day. He wants to fight me as much as I want to fight him, and I think a lot more people are interested in the fight now. So regardless when it is, it’s going to happen.”
In this exclusive conversation with Sherdog, the Northern England native spoke on the lost fight having been a chance to raise his status. He also touched on the COVID-19 situation in England, as the country tries to combat the outbreak. Additionally, he rapped on how he is keeping busy at home during the lockdown and the origin of his “Cal Pacino” nickname.
