“The Spartan” hopes to vindicate a loss to “Do Bronx” one day.

The second run in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is turning out to be quite successful for Christos Giagos (19-8, 5-4 UFC). “The Spartan” has only lost once in his latest five appearances. His most recent success has seen him put Sean Soriano to sleep thanks to a slick brabo choke 59 seconds into Round 2 at UFC 262. The bill was headlined by a former opponent of Giagos, Charles Oliveira, who scored his most impressive victory when he stopped former Bellator MMA lightweight kingpin Michael Chandler with punches en route to capturing the 155-pound belt. While Giagos understands there is still plenty of ground to cover, he wishes to lock horns with “Do Bronx” somewhere down the road.

“I think he did great,” he said while talking with Sherdog about Oliveira’s performance. “He had to dig himself out of a big hole, and that’s what tells you a lot about a fighter. Being in trouble that bad in the first round, some fighters don’t recover the same to go on the second round, but it looked like it woke him up a little bit, but he came [back] and put on a spectacular finish. The guy is good, man. He’s the champ for a reason, and he has a bright, bright future ahead of him. He’s going to be the guy everyone’s looking up to beat. I’m glad he got the win, I was rooting for him. That guy is an animal, I’d love to fight him again one day if I can make that happen.”
