Alexandre Pantoja (26-5) won the Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight title with a hard-fought split decision win over Brandon Moreno (21-7) at UFC 290 in July. The newly crowned champ was given a hero’s welcome in his hometown of Arraial do Cabo, Brazil, riding atop a fire truck as fans thronged the streets.
“The Cannibal” recently weighed in on how his life has been altered after becoming a UFC champion. While he admits there has been a little change, Pantoja believes bigger changes are yet to come.
The Brazilian plans to stay atop the flyweight division for a long time, which according to him will warrant “big money” matchups.
For now, Pantoja is grateful to God for all he has achieved and shows his gratitude by offering back to society. The champ likes inspiring people with small acts of kindness, such as a visit to a jiu-jitsu gym full of white belts, or just letting everyone touch the flyweight strap.
