Sakara: UFC is the past, now I'm focused on FFC

(PRESS RELEASE) -- This Thursday Croatian combat sports promotion FFC probably got the biggest reinforcement so far when it comes to MMA fighters. Despite the fact that the FFC can boast with names such as Rico Rodrigues, Dion Staring, James, McSweeney and Eddie Sanchez, Alessio Sakara is now in his prime years and this cooperation should be a new chapter for him as well as a try to climb back to the top and come back to the UFC.

On the occasion of Alessio’s visit to the FFC headquarters in Zagreb, Croatia, FFC held a press conference and introduced this Italian fighter to the Croatian media.

In an exclusive interview, as well as Alessio’s first interview after sealing a deal with FFC, Alessio talks about his impressions and joining the FFC ranks.

When did you start to negotiate with FFC and why did you choose this promotion?

“Because I have a friend Rico Rodriguez who also fights in the FFC. People told me it’s a very good promotion. When I left the UFC I decided I want to fight in the FFC. I talked with Rico and Rico put me in the contact with Orsat and now I will stay with FFC.”

What do you think about FFC?

“FFC is a very good promotion for Europe and it’s growing bigger. I like to fight for this promotion because in Europe everybody knows about FFC. “

In which weight division will you fight?

“93 kg. No more 84 kg. That’s impossible for me.”

Do you know some FFC fighters?

There are a lot of good fighters in 93 kg. But now I’m focused only on training. When people tell me the name of my opponent, it’s good. No problem.”

With what fighter would you like to fight the most?

“I cannot choose my opponents. I am here only to fight. I am professional. I am training for fight.”

What can you tell you about your experience in the UFC?

“The UFC is the best promotion in the world. Everybody knows about it and I like it very much. When I joined the UFC I was very young. 24 years. It helped my very much to understand the professionalism. Now I will focus on FFC. UFC is past. Maybe in the future I come back, but now I have no problems with it. Now I’m focused on FFC.”
