TOTAL NUMBER OF LFA EVENTS: 70
The Legacy Fighting Alliance on Friday took a trip to California for the first time in 2019 and brought a card chock full of finishes to the Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon. LFA 69 featured a rare stoppage from leg kicks, the first fourth-round finish inside the promotion and no fighter competing above lightweight.
GIVING THE CAGE A BREATHER: LFA 69 was the first
event in organizational history to have no bouts scheduled in the
welterweight division or above.
WHO NEEDS JUDGES?: With seven of the eight fights ending before the final bell, LFA 69 tied LFA 33 for the fifth-highest finish rate -- 87.5 percent -- of any event in company history. Only LFA 23, LFA 28, LFA 31 and LFA 45 had higher stoppage rates.
WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER: All eight of the victors at LFA 69 came in holding more wins than their respective opponents.
THE AMAZING BRANDO: By demolishing Maikel Perez in the fourth round to win the LFA flyweight title, Brandon Moreno picked up the first fourth-round stoppage in LFA history.
BETTER THAN ‘BABY ASSASSIN’: With the finish coming at 1:54 of Round 4, Moreno scored the third-latest stoppage in promotional history. Only fifth-round finishes belonging to Richard Odoms and Austin Hubbard have come later.
GET TWO BIRDS STONED AT ONCE: By taking out Ricky Furar with leg kicks, Kyle Estrada became the second fighter in LFA history to finish an opponent with the technique. He joins Keoni Diggs, who stopped Andy Varela at LFA 44.
THE POWER OF THE POLE: Crystal Vanessa Demopoulos tapped MMA debutant Nadine Mandiau with an armbar at 2:37 of the first round and in doing so earned the second-quickest finish in LFA strawweight history. Only Desiree Yanez’s 2:11 knockout of Fatima Mallett at LFA 52 came faster.
IF A DOCTOR IS CALLED IN THE FOREST: In an unaired postliminary fight, Brandon Hastings forced the doctor to intervene and call a stop to his bout against Jose Campos. This marked the fourth doctor stoppage TKO in company history and the first in the lightweight division.
HASTY HASTINGS: Hastings earned his sixth win by finishing Campos, and all six of his victories have come by stoppage. He has never gone the distance in his career, with all three of his losses also coming by knockout.
NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN: Coming into LFA 69, Perez had never been knocked out (seven fights), Steve Kozola had never been submitted (11 fights) and Jose Medina had never been defeated (four fights).
