After a successful run at strawweight — albeit with some issues on the scale — Calvillo was impressive in her flyweight debut, as she earned a clear-cut unanimous verdict against Jessica Eye in the UFC on ESPN 10 headliner on Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. With a win over a former title challenger, Calvillo looks destined for the rankings in a new weight class come Monday morning.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on ESPN 10, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

6: UFC wins for Calvillo since her promotional debut in 2017. That ties her with Amanda Nunes, Valentina Shevchenko, Katlyn Chookagian and Angela Hill for the most among female fighters during that period.

113: Signficant strikes landed by Calvillo, a UFC career high for the Tiger Muay Thai representative. Calvillo outlanded her foe 24 to 20 in Round 1, 12 to 7 in Round 2, 23 to 14 in Round 3, 17 to 5 in Round 4 and 37 to 24 in Round 5. Calvillo also held a 150-to-70 edge in total strikes landed.

4: Takedowns landed in seven attempts for Calvillo. The former strawweight grounded Eye once in each of the last four frames.

8: Guard passes executed by Calvillo, who took Eye’s back repeatedly but was unable to secure a rear-naked choke.

41: Significant strikes by which Marvin Vettori outlanded Karl Roberson in their middleweight bout. That included a 43-to-0 edge on the ground as “The Italian Dream” used that onslaught to set up a rear-naked choke finish at the 4:17 mark of the opening stanza.

9: UFC featherweight triumphs for Andre Fili following a split-decision triumph against Charles Jourdain on Saturday. That ties him with Dennis Bermudez and Chad Mendes for the sixth most in the history of the division. Max Holloway is No. 1 with 16 victories.

5: Takedowns landed in nine attempts for Fili, who was outlanded in significant strikes by a 62-to-44 count.

126: Signficant strikes landed by Jordan Espinosa in a bantweight clash with Mark De La Rosa. By comparision, De La Rosa landed 37. Espinosa outlanded his foe 49 to 6 in Round 1, 38 to 17 in Round 2 and 39 to 14 in Round 3.

98: Total strikes landed by Espinosa in Round 1. Many of those shots occurred as De La Rosa clung to a single-leg attempt against the fence, allowing Espinosa to land numerous punches and elbows to the head.

13: Takedowns landed in 18 attempts by Merab Dvalishvili in a decision triumph over Combate Americas champ Gustavo Lopez. That’s a UFC best for Dvalishvili, who has landed double-digit takedowns on three occasions in the Octagon.

52: Career takedowns landed by Dvalishvili in six UFC appearances, tying him with Randy Couture for No. 16 all-time in promotion history.

14: Guard passes executed by Dvalishvili.

59: Significant strike advantage for Dvalishvili. “The Machine” outlanded his foe 73 to 14 in significant strikes and 110 to 49 in total strikes.

0:22: Time of Julia Avila’s techincal knockout victory against Gina Mazany in a preliminary bantamweight clash. That’s the fourth-fastest finish in the history of the women’s 135-pound division behind Ronda Rousey (14 seconds at UFC 184), Rousey (16 seconds at UFC 175) and Germaine de Randamie (UFC Fight Night 155).

6: Finishes in less than one minute in the professional career of Christian Aguilera. “The Beast” defeated fellow UFC newcomer Anthony Ivy 59 seconds into the first stanza of their welterweight encounter in the evening’s open preliminary bout.

3: Fights ending in less than a minute at UFC on ESPN 10, tying the modern era UFC record for most sub-60 second finishes at an event.

5: Fighters who made their Octagon debut at UFC on ESPN 10: Christian Aguilera, Anthony Ivy, Zarrukh Adashev, Gustavo Lopez and Mariya Agapova. Advertisement
